Transforming Lives
Real stories of change from the communities we serve

From Tragedy to Advocacy: Simon's Story
Simon, a father of five, lost his leg to a landmine while traveling with his son. With support from IHSI, he received multiple mine risk education sessions that empowered his entire family with life-saving knowledge. Though unable to farm as before, Simon now plays a key role in educating his community about explosive hazards and keeping others safe.

A Safe Haven in Times of Crisis
After fleeing violence in Jonglei State, a displaced community found refuge in a humanitarian camp where they were provided with tents, clean water, health services, and education. Over time, the site evolved from an emergency shelter into a hub of resilience—families rebuilt their routines, women engaged in livelihoods, and youth resumed learning. With restored leadership and cultural practices, the community transformed shared trauma into collective strength, proving that even in displacement, dignity and unity can thrive.

Amina's Journey to Self-Reliance
After completing IHSI's liquid-soap making and kitchen-gardening trainings, Amina boosted her household income by 35%, fully covered her children's school fees, and now mentors other mothers in her community

Restoring Hope Through Community Immunisation
In a remote village previously cut off from essential health services, a mobile outreach campaign brought life-saving immunisations to over 1,200 children and mothers. The initiative not only protected the community from preventable diseases like measles and polio but also rebuilt trust in healthcare through education and local health volunteer engagement.

Empowering Communities Through Disease Sensitisation
In underserved rural settlements, a community-wide sensitisation campaign reached over 3,000 people with critical information on disease prevention, hygiene, and early treatment. Through interactive sessions led by trained health workers and local leaders, residents gained practical knowledge on illnesses such as malaria, cholera, and respiratory infections.
